The more then 1GB memory Windows XP hibernate problem

April 11th, 2006 by Pascal Alberty

Windows XP has some difficulties to manage hibernate process when you have more then 1GB RAM on your computer. This is a well known problem:

“This problem occurs because the Windows kernel power manager cannot obtain the memory resources that are required to prepare the computer to hibernate.”

as said in the KB at Microsoft’s site. There is a hotfix but you can’t download by yourself. It will be available with the next Windows XP Service Pack or you have to call Microsoft Support.

… or you can download the fix from this blog post

Enjoy.
